Hey there! It’s been a little bit since I have been on here and frankly I did not intend for it to be this way, however, things have been a little hectic and the past couple of weeks have been nothing but preparations for the new school year. The kids were looking towards the new school year with much excitement and this year we have a middle schooler so you can imagine the pressure and anticipation of all things new that come with that rite of passage.

Yes, the kids are back in school, for now, and I explain all this here

During that time we were also trying to complete the electrical, add insulation and get the ceiling up in the YouTube studio. This building is super important for us right now as we will be using it as a tiny home during our house build over the next year or so.

Living in a camper has been pretty trying for this family of five at times and I am in need of a bit more space before our family gets any bigger.

And now that we only have 10 weeks to complete it before our baby arrives the pressure is on. The first thing that needed to be done before anything else was completed was install all of the electrical lines, outlets and light fixture boxes.

I am lucky Nelson used to be an electrician and was able to do that himself with my assistance ( I basically just handed him the tools and helped pull wire now and again).

Next, Nelson had to spray in the foam insulation and then install the ceiling. My dad came up to help Nelson on two different weekends in order to get help with the ceiling. I wasn’t tall enough to hold up the boards in place where they needed to go.

We actually thought it would take only one weekend, but this was the first time we did anything like this and there was much learning and trial and error involved. I will say though, that it turned out stunning.

I detailed all of the happenings and a couple of changes in the order we are doing things in the video below.

I feel like sometimes it’s easier just to sit and talk to the camera than typing everything out in a long narrative. Plus, I have a lot of video footage of the work we did and I get to introduce and a new family member to you all as well, because we aren’t cramped enough! LOL!

I do have more updates to the cottage since this work was completed and I am working on sharing those very soon. I also have some fall Look for Less DIYs that I think you will enjoy so stay tuned for those as well.

If you are looking for fall inspiration now, check out some of my best fall DIYs now.

I will see you in the next one.

Until then, adios! Yami Signature 300x161 YouTube Studio (Tiny Home) Update Part 1

  1. Wow Nelson does great work that ceiling is gorgeous. I can’t wait to see more. Best wishes to you . Oh and that new puppy is so cute. Barbara

  2. Nice work! The spray foam insulation was a good choice. You can tell he really got into all the tight areas, too. It’s also nice that you are seeing an immediate noticeable difference in the home. Aside from temperature control, I bet the room will also have great acoustics.
